Four years after exiting her namesake beauty company, Bobbi Brown launched JONES ROAD, a collection of hard-working, multipurpose clean products for the “no-makeup makeup” look. With a new store in Palm Beach, and a booming digital presence Brown reflects on how this new beauty project may be her best one yet.
WHAT LED YOU TO LAUNCH JONES ROAD? When I left my namesake brand in 2016, I knew I wasn’t done creating. I also felt that I still had something new to teach women. With JONES ROAD, my mission was to create a modern beauty company that took what I always believed in and then do it my way. I was ready to be the boss again.
HOW IS JONES ROAD DIFFERENT FROM BOBBI BROWN? Honestly, nothing about JONES ROAD is the same as what I’ve done in the past. The products; where we’re making them; the packaging we’re using and how we’re marketing it – everything has changed. JONES ROAD has absolutely nothing to do with my past. It’s about my present and our future.
HOW HAS THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY CHANGED OVER THE DECADES? I believe there is a new definition of what beauty is. Imperfect is beautiful. Perfecting the “no makeup makeup” look is very popular, even though I’ve been doing it my whole career. Consumers gravitate to brands that follow a code of clean beauty and not use 2,700 potentially toxic ingredients. I’m very proud that all the JONES ROAD products are both safe and effective.
NAME A JONES ROAD’S STANDOUT PRODUCT. We have many fan favorites but the hero product is Miracle Balm. It’s a high-performing, multi-purpose balm that’s full of amazing, “good-for-you” ingredients, You can use it to add a wash of soft-focus moisture to enhance your skin. It reflects light so it adds a hint of glow wherever you need it – cheeks, lips, decolletage. It comes in 10 shades so you can wear it alone, or layer it on top of your foundation. I wear it every single day and it instantly makes me look better. That’s why we called it the Miracle Balm.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR NEW STORE IN PALM BEACH. My husband and I have a home here so it was the perfect location for us to open our next store. We love everything about Palm Beach; the weather, the wonderful shops and restaurants and, most importantly, the people who have been so welcoming to us. They have made JONES ROAD immediately feel like we’ve always been part of the neighborhood.
THIS BEING OUR WELLNESS ISSUE, WHAT IS YOUR IDEA OF SELF-CARE? After trying so many different things throughout the years and then getting my degree as a certified health coach, I finally found that what works best for me is intuitive eating. I pay attention to what I like and how It makes me feel and then adjust as needed. For exercise, I usually work out with a trainer 2-3 times a week with weights. I walk outside a lot and I really love to dance. I know that I should meditate but, I’m still working on that.
