Chanel Resort collection cruises into Miami.

Fourteen years after the first Chanel resort show held at Miami’s iconic Raleigh Hotel, the 2022/23 Cruise collection returned to the Magic City, and the luxury Maison took it by storm. From last year’s opening of Miami Design District’s 7,600-square-foot boutique designed by Chanel collaborator and architect Peter Marino to the show’s return to our coastal metropolis, the brand has reconfirmed its enthusiasm for Miami.

Virginie Viard’s homage to mentor Karl Lagerfeld’s love for Monte Carlo, this show featured parallel references to the glamorous lifestyle of the French and American Rivieras. Viard drew inspiration from memories of iconic moments with Princess Caroline, Lagerfeld’s ‘90s photoshoots of Linda and Christy, Charlie’s Angels-style mechanic’s overalls, and sexy Helmut Newton’s girls. Highlights included elements from Monte Carlo’s iconography of car-racing, tennis-playing, yachting, and beach-living, with checkerboard prints, tennis-inspired looks, vamp-style swimsuits and pieces reminiscent of the aforementioned Newton imagery. A generous serving of beachy silhouettes in colorful hues, dolphin or seashell-themed jewelry, and purses added a Miami vibe to the presentation.

The collection arrives in Miami from its May Monte Carlo debut just in time for a November drop in stores, allowing Chanel loyalists to map out their sartorial season with style in spades.
