Best known for his modern approach to classic menswear and a blend of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary designs, legendary designer Todd Snyder has recently opened his Miami flagship in Bal Harbour. A testament to Snyder’s commitment to high quality and American spirit, the store delivers a bold and stylish experience.
TELL US ABOUT THE LOOK OF YOUR NEW STORE. I design all of my stores with the intent of transporting the customer into my world. For me, that means mid-century influences with a utilitarian twist and, of course, attention to quality and craftsmanship. We spent a lot of
time meticulously selecting every interior detail to create a bolder, more coastal feel with new colors and textures that honor the rich history of design that Miami continues to influence.
WHERE DID YOU DRAW INSPIRATION FROM? Miami’s influence on architecture, culture, and style built the framework. We looked at design choices that suited the city, like custom green tiled exteriors, rattan ceilings, and plaster-worked walls throughout. A custom curtain by the team at Les Crafties perfectly sums up our approach–bright and maximalist patterns that use the vegetation, colors, and composition of the city while weaving in the DNA of our brand.
FAVORITE SECTION OF THE NEW STORE? The cash wrap, which also functions as a bar, is a custom-milled walnut piece with a unique, three-dimensional design meant to soften the space. We often go with intricate lines, but this has a very organic feel, which suits the city.
WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM YOUR WINTER COLLECTION? The collection is the best of our Americana style, from re-engineered wardrobe classics to refined soft tailoring, cabana-wear, utility-inspired workwear, and sportswear. We also offer a hand-curated selection of vintage timepieces and jewelry, third-party brands, and exclusive collaborations worldwide.
SPEAKING OF COLLABORATIONS, WHICH BRAND WOULD YOU LIKE TO WORK WITH NEXT? In my career, I’ve been very fortunate to collaborate with some of the greatest brands in the world, like L.L.Bean, Champion Sportswear, and New Balance. I’ve been an avid sneaker collector for years and dream of collab with Nike. It would be a dream to comb through its archive, uncover hidden gems, and immerse in its rich history.
REGARDING PREFERENCES… WHICH PIECE OF YOURS IS YOUR FAVORITE? It’s like children, you can’t pick just one. For different reasons, a few hold sentimental value over the years, like The Suede Dylan Jacket, a luxe Italian trucker style that you can’t turn a corner in NYC or LA without seeing. Another is my Todd Snyder x Champion Pocket Sweatshirt, a cult-favorite menswear staple I still sell a decade later.
